Meet up reminder: Sunday, June 29th

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Just a reminder that there is a meet up this Sunday (29 June) at the Boleyn Stadium (West Ham United) in East London New London Stadium the home of Millwall FC. Meet at the South Bermondsey Rail Station which is about 5 mins ride on the rail line out of London Bridge Station. UPDATE!  We’ll meet at 12:30 at the front entrance (there’s only one entrance) to Bermondsey UNDERGROUND station.

The plan is to meet up at 12:30 and walk around for a few hours taking photos for maybe 3 hours or so and then either break up or go out for some refreshments.

If you have any suggestions or questions, post them below and Eric will get back to you. He’d appreciate it if you’d let him know if you’re going to join him on any particular Sunday at least a few days ahead of time by dropping me an email: alldaybreakfast at mac dot com so he have some idea of what to expect. Also let him know your mobile number and he’ll send you his in a return email.

I’ll be there so I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces and perhaps a few new ones too. Hope to see you guys there!

Just a reminder that there is a meet up this Sunday (15 June) at Emarites Emirates Stadium (Arsenal) in North London. More details to come.

The plan is to meet up at 12:30 and walk around for a few hours taking photos for maybe 3 hours or so and then either break up or go out for some refreshments.

If you have any suggestions or questions, post them below and Eric will get back to you. June: A month of Sundays

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

(Note: I’m (Lorissa) a tad late in posting this so this is more a month of Sundays in June, minus this last weekend.)

Hi everyone,

Lor contacted me about possibly leading another photoblogger meetup like the ones I did awhile back. If you weren’t around then, I’m Eric and I’ve been working on a project for the past 4 years of walking all of London reachable by Tube. I’ve got about 4000+ images at my site organised by the section of london. If you want to see the kind of work I do its here: http://www.curiouslyincongruous.net.

Anyway, I suggested the following project to her and to you if you’re interested. It covers 4 meetups in June, one each Sunday. I’m calling it a Month of Sundays.

The idea is to that each Sunday in June anyone interested would join me in a photo-walk around the area of a major football stadium in London and spend a bunch of hours photographing within the sphere of influence of that one stadium, not just the stadium proper but what ever seems to be interesting within their area of influence (loosely interpreted).

I’ve chosen the following stadiums (Stadia?) because I have found their surroundings particularly interesting:

White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur) in North East London (8 June)
Emarites Stadium (Arsenal) in North London (15 June)
Wembley and the industrial area behind it (22 June)
Boleyn Stadium (West Ham United) in East London (30 June)

Each Sunday we’d meet up at 12:30 at a meeting point which I’ll post closer to the meetup day (probably the closest tube station). We’d then walk around for a few hours taking photos for maybe 3 or hours or so and then either break up or go out for some refreshments.

If you have any suggestions or questions, post them below and I’ll get back to you. I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know if you’re going to join me on any particular Sunday at least a few days ahead of time by dropping me an email: alldaybreakfast at mac dot com so I have some idea of what to expect. Also let me know your mobile number and I’ll send you mine in a return email.

Look forward to seeing you on one of these walks.

Eric

Europe Photobloggers Meetup 2008

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Last year’s Europe Photobloggers meetup in Berlin was great fun, and it was then announced that this year the meetup is going to be held in Barcelona. The Barcelona Photobloggers group seems really well organized, and so I’m pretty sure that this is going to be another great event.

The Europe Photobloggers Meetup 2008 will be held from 5 to 7 September, and for more information and discussion you can head over to the EPB website.

Potential May Meet up. Your thoughts?

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Location - Cambridge
Time - 9.00am at Kings Cross Station or 10.15 at Cambridge station.
Date - 16th or 17th or 18th May

A day in Cambridge! General itinerary will be to shoot a few colleges / street life, pub for lunch then more shooting afterwards.

If you are interested, please leave a comment so we can gage whether to go ahead with organising this.

Studio Day - Sunday 27th April

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Andy (Shotage) and myself are organising a studio day on Sunday 27th April in Egham, Surrey (where I work). We will be recruiting a couple of models and a make-up artist for the day and will guide you through a few lighting set-ups before letting everyone have a go taking some shots. We will have several studio flashes and a colorama backdrop or two to play with.

Numbers have to be limited, so we are looking for 5 people who can commit to that date. As we will be getting experienced models and a MUA in, we would like to give them some money for their time, so we are asking that everyone that signs up pays £20 towards that. We will provide snacks and drink.

One requirement is that your camera will be able to fire the flashes. I have radio triggers, so as long as your camera has a working hotshoe, we should be fine.

If you are interested, please leave a comment and I will get back to you to confirm and give you further details.

Meet Up Plans

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

So, I am away in Ireland for a few days (hopefully some great photos to follow) but I wanted to let you all know that I have not forgotten about our meet up discussions. When I get back next week I plan to touch base with a few folks and get some potential ideas going. Some options will be planned and the meet up announced (saves time) and others will be based on what votes/feedback we get. I will be chatting with Mr DicksDaily and Mr Curiously Incongruous about walks with them. Both have very kindly offered their time and knowledge to take us for walks around some lesser known spots. A night meet up sounds cool as well, so we’ll see what else we can do.

I will be setting up a newsletter if you prefer to receive an email reminder for meet ups so check back next week.

Next meet up?

Monday, March 17th, 2008

So, the St Patrick’s day meet up was  a bust. So, I’d love to hear from you guys about where we should meet next? What areas would be good to explore? As someone who doesn’t know London very well, some suggestions would be great!

Also, what is the best way to keep you guys informed about meet ups? Is it easy enough to subscribe to our feed, or would you sign up for a newsletter to receive a reminder via email?

Next meet up: Sunday, March 16

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Date: Sunday, March 16
Time: 1:00pm, and then later between 3:30pm - 4:00pm
Place: Garfunkels on Northumberland Ave - it’s right near Trafalgar Square so a good spot to meet up and then venture from there.

This is the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The parade starts at Hyde Park Corner at noon and winds its way to Trafalgar Square and up to Whitehall. It’s usually difficult to keep up with everyone during a parade, so feel free to follow it until Trafalgar Square and then we can meet up to watch the rest, and of course the performances at the square. We can venture to Covent Garden where there will be an Irish food market and Leicester Square for the Irish Culture Village.

The later meeting time allows us to get together with anyone typically late (me) or dealing with any traffic issues. We can continue to enjoy the Irish festivities until 6pm and in between, no doubt, hit a Starbucks - since that is what we always tend to do.

Reminder: Meet up tomorrow, Feb 10th!

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Tomorrow is the Chinese Year of the Rat New Year celebrations, and our next meet up. The details are below, but please note there is a new second meeting time and place in case things are too hectic for our earlier meet up time. If you miss us at 12:30pm at the Trafalgar Square Cafe, then enjoy the celebrations and we’ll see you later, between 3:30pm and 4:00pm at Garfunkels on Northumberland Ave.

See you tomorrow!
