  • How to Win a Photography Competition
“Photography Competitions are a wonderful way to improve your photography. While photography just for the sake of photography is a lot of fun sometimes a competition can help you raise the bar as a photographer as you know your image will be seen by a discerning group of judges and possibly even displayed along with other winners.”
    digital-photography-school.com
  • Photosynth
“Imagine being able to share the places and things you love using the cinematic quality of a movie, the control of a video game, and the mind-blowing detail of the real world. With nothing more than a bunch of photos, Photosynth creates an amazing new experience.” photosynth.net
  • Easy Ways to Find Models
“But if you want to shoot people, life’s a little harder. Not everyone is equally photogenic, so you have to find the right person.” blogs.photopreneur.com
  • Photojojo’s Ultimate Guide to Road Trip Photography
“We at Photojojo love road trips because they’re a photographer’s dream: each new mile is a photo waiting to happen. So we’ve compiled our Ultimate Guide to Road Trip Photography, to inspire you on your next trip!” photojojo.com

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Cycle London - a new initiative of The Mayor of London and Transport for London to get folks out on their bikes to explore the city - has a photo competition going on which invites you to submit your photos of London via their Flickr group. You can submit as many photos as you wish until September 3, 2008. Be sure to include a tag, comment or geotag to indicate where the photo was taken or else the image will not be qualified for entry.

  • The 10 Best Things About the New Adobe Lightroom 2.0
Thomas Hawk explains what he thinks are the 10 best things about Adobe Lightroom 2.0.
  • Times of London Photojournalist Dies in Zimbabwe
Richard Mills was more than a photojournalist. He was a seemingly rare breed of photojournalists who actually cared about the people in the stories he followed, not merely in getting a story. He will be missed.
  • Is a picture worth $1000? How to Price Your Photography
“Pricing your photography is difficult for many photographers, and there is no “magic formula” for pricing. Photography has many different markets, with different price expectations, and photographers have different skill levels. Despite the wide ranges in the marketplace, there are a number of tools that you can use to establish prices for your work.”
  • The importance of focus and quick tips on how to get it right
“Focus in photography is about a lot more than simply sharpness or being able to see what you are looking at. Focus can enhance a subject by making it stand out from or blend into its surroundings, focus can draw you in, and the right focus can create an emotional connection with the viewer.”

Every week I’ll be posting links to articles and stories elsewhere on the web. If you know of a good article that would be of interest to other photographers, contact me.
