June: A month of Sundays

(Note: I’m (Lorissa) a tad late in posting this so this is more a month of Sundays in June, minus this last weekend.)

Hi everyone,

Lor contacted me about possibly leading another photoblogger meetup like the ones I did awhile back. If you weren’t around then, I’m Eric and I’ve been working on a project for the past 4 years of walking all of London reachable by Tube. I’ve got about 4000+ images at my site organised by the section of london. If you want to see the kind of work I do its here: http://www.curiouslyincongruous.net.

Anyway, I suggested the following project to her and to you if you’re interested. It covers 4 meetups in June, one each Sunday. I’m calling it a Month of Sundays.

The idea is to that each Sunday in June anyone interested would join me in a photo-walk around the area of a major football stadium in London and spend a bunch of hours photographing within the sphere of influence of that one stadium, not just the stadium proper but what ever seems to be interesting within their area of influence (loosely interpreted).

I’ve chosen the following stadiums (Stadia?) because I have found their surroundings particularly interesting:

White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur) in North East London (8 June)
Emarites Stadium (Arsenal) in North London (15 June)
Wembley and the industrial area behind it (22 June)
Boleyn Stadium (West Ham United) in East London (30 June)

Each Sunday we’d meet up at 12:30 at a meeting point which I’ll post closer to the meetup day (probably the closest tube station). We’d then walk around for a few hours taking photos for maybe 3 or hours or so and then either break up or go out for some refreshments.

If you have any suggestions or questions, post them below and I’ll get back to you. I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know if you’re going to join me on any particular Sunday at least a few days ahead of time by dropping me an email: alldaybreakfast at mac dot com so I have some idea of what to expect. Also let me know your mobile number and I’ll send you mine in a return email.

Look forward to seeing you on one of these walks.

Eric

Great to hear you’re organising this, you are always such a mine of information, it’s always a pleasure to wander around town with you. I’m definitely interested, not sure how many I’ll be able to get to, but I’d like to go to all of them. I’ll email you separately with my mobile no.

    Cheers
    Neil

Would be great to join you on this, but will check with the better half to see which one.
Thanks for arranging this, and ‘ll get back to you.

  3. Rich says:

Yep, ditto Kevin but it’s been far too long since I joined any of you in full force :)

  4. Tom says:

What a great idea! That is a very good theme to explore some lesser known parts of town. I’ll definitely try to make it to a few of these.

  5. Andy says:

Be good to meet you again Eric, I think I’ll be going to one at the end of the month. Will email with contact details.

i’m in for this weekend. Come on the mighty Spurs ;-)

Eric - Will email you shortly, will be great to catch up. Think I last saw you on Regent street!!

  7. Eric says:

Looking forward to seeing you Ben and Neil. For all, please be aware that the Victoria line is closed this weekend so you’ll have to take a bus or the train. We’ll meet at 12:30 at the Spurs shop on the corner of Paxton Road and High Road (see google map below) The weather forecast is reasonable at this point, sunny and warmish.
Here’s the bus map for buses that serve the area:
