Tips to Reduce Camera Shake

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Some basic tips in this article from digital Photography School - How to Reduce Camera Shake - 6 Techniques. As someone who always shakes, it’s good to find some new simple techniques to try when you don’t have a tripod handy. Anyone have any other tips on reducing camera shake (other than the obvious - get a tripod)?

Meet up reminder: Sunday, June 29th

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Just a reminder that there is a meet up this Sunday (29 June) at the Boleyn Stadium (West Ham United) in East London New London Stadium the home of Millwall FC. Meet at the South Bermondsey Rail Station which is about 5 mins ride on the rail line out of London Bridge Station. UPDATE!  We’ll meet at 12:30 at the front entrance (there’s only one entrance) to Bermondsey UNDERGROUND station.

The plan is to meet up at 12:30 and walk around for a few hours taking photos for maybe 3 hours or so and then either break up or go out for some refreshments.

If you have any suggestions or questions, post them below and Eric will get back to you. He’d appreciate it if you’d let him know if you’re going to join him on any particular Sunday at least a few days ahead of time by dropping me an email: alldaybreakfast at mac dot com so he have some idea of what to expect. Also let him know your mobile number and he’ll send you his in a return email.

I’ll be there so I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces and perhaps a few new ones too. Hope to see you guys there!

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

London is always been a melting pot of people coming from different parts of the world. And surely there are some photobloggers as well who arrive in this city. For example Randy Murrow from fstoptheworld, who only arrived last January from the US.

The Big Picture from Boston.com

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Earlier this month Boston.com launched a new site, The Big Picture, where the name says it all.  Each entry tells a story through high-quality and lovely large images. I often get frustrated and small images in news stories so this is refreshing. Some of the photos are exceptional and when they are at such a large size you can really appreciate them.

I hope other news sites take the hint and offer something similar in the future. I know some sites have started to enlarge there images, but I think they can still take it further. A long, even powerful, article about Sudan may not get many readers, but I’m not sure how many people can not take the time to look at these photos and feel something.

Chilhood Fears

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I am simply loving this Flickr set: Childhood Fears. Some really fantastic lighting going on. Personally,  my favourite (and the one that scares me the most) is the clown.  I watched IT as a kid and was terrified. I wouldn’t walk near sewer grates for months, but clowns are pretty scary even without the claws and murderous tendencies, right?
