Photography Magazines

Typically on a lazy Sunday I like to visit the nearby Borders, grab a coffee, and browse the books and magazines.  Yes, I really do have the rockstar lifestyle;) I must admit though, I’m not often enticed to buy anything.  The only two magazines I tend to find myself buying is Professional Photographer and Black & White Magazine. Professional Photographer typically has some really good articles and I always enjoy the interviews and other industry news. Black & White is all about me drooling over the great photos.

That being said though, perhaps I am missing out on some great magazines out there? What photography magazines do you read, whether religiously or only occasionally? What recommendations do you have?

I think there is a gap in the market for a decent art photography magazine. I haven’t found one yet, at least not one that costs less than a decent book.

  2. Paul says:

Caffe Latte at Borders and a copy of Black & White Magazine are combination I always look forward to every month: even though it is more orientated toward the printed medium it is a source of inspiration.
I agree there is a lack decently priced art photography magazine though - here are some on line material I enjoy reading:

‘The British Journal of Photography’ is the magazine where I can find some articles worth to read. it is a weekly mag . Moreover recently in the ‘Calumet focuse’, includes intersting interview, it is a free news-catalgue puclished every two months.and I recive it by post.

Just a point about B&W, I don’t know why Borders sells B&W more expensive than newsagent shops since last year .

  5. Lorissa says:

@Andy - I agree. there does seem to be a gap for a decent mag. Cost is always a concern.

@Paul - Thanks for the links. I haven’t looked through a JPG Mag in awhile. I got the first few, but nothing after that.

  6. Lorissa says:

@Reza - Sorry - your comments were flagged as “spam” hence the belatedness in getting these published.

I just got a copy of “Calumet Focus” the other day actually and enjoyed the few articles in there. I’ll have to look into the “British Journal of Photography” though. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was walking through town today and saw a magazine in a shop window (closed unfortunately, so I couldn’t leaf through it) which advertised itself as an art photography mag: PhotoIcon (photoicon.com). Price was 4.95, so it might be something you guys want to check out.
